Learn to ride
Children and adults of all shapes and sizes can be matched to our horses and ponies of all shapes and sizes to learn to ride and progress further. Our highly qualified instructors have great experience and patience for beginners who may feel nervous or anxious to begin with.
Your first lesson will be an assessment and some basic interaction on the horse or pony to a point where your feel confident. You may have previous experience of riding and want to get back in the saddle.
During your assessment you will feel how your horse or pony moves and you will learn how to mount/dismount, slow down and stop. The main goal is to relax, have fun and enjoy the experience.
What to wear
As a beginner it's all about safety and comfort, we wouldn't expect you to have all the correct clothing incase you decide riding isn't for you. For your first assessment lesson we advise comfortable trousers i.e leggings, jogging bottoms. Jeans aren't the most suitable and shorts should not be worn as they can chafe.
Riding boots are obviously ideal but something as close to riding boots as possible would be best i.e wellies. We have wellies to hire in most sizes.
Wear long sleeves which doesn't restrict your movement and gloves are a strongly recommended to avoid the reins slipping through your hands.
Your own riding hat is essential if you choose to continue riding lessons. However you can hire a British Standard riding hat from us.
